John Dale Berry, 80

John Dale Berry, 80 of West Portsmouth, died Sunday May 17, 2015 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born February 19, 1935 in Mecca Indiana to the late John Thomas and Mary Kramer Berry. Along with his parents Dale was preceded in death by his wife Janet Holsinger Berry, who he married on January 25, 1961, 2 brothers; Donnie and Richard Berry. Dale was a retired truck driver and a member of Teamsters Local #92. He was a 1953 graduate of Washington High School (Portsmouth West). He was a United States Army veteran, a member of Nauvoo Masonic Lodge # 769 and Pond Run Baptist Church. He loved working and going to West football games.

He was such a good and faithful servant we know where he is resting, in the hands of our Father. Dale was a devoted, gentle, kind, giving soul who loved his family deeply!! Often a man of few words but when he did speak, he was honest. He is so loved and will be greatly missed by the ones he left behind. But we have God's assurance that Dale is with him.

Dale is survived by 2 sons; Michael Dale (Tonya) Berry and Thomas Joe (Amy) Berry all of West Portsmouth, a daughter Mary (Jody) Adkins of West Portsmouth, 3 brothers; Bill and Jim Berry both of Dayton and Jerry Berry of West Portsmouth, 4 sisters; Charlotte Jones of Cincinnati, Carolyn Salyers of Lucasville, Loretta Blankenship of Circleville and Mary Madden of Ironton, 7 grandchildren; Jessie Adkins, Samantha (Ben) Bohlen, Olivia Berry, Tomi Berry, Jody Berry, John Berry and Josh Berry, 2 great grandchildren; Avery and Kinsley Bohlen., 2 special family members; brother in law Harold Holsinger and nephew Eric Berry along with several nieces and nephews and brother and sisters in laws

. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday May 20, 2015 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Jim McCullough officiating. Interment will be in McKendree Cemetery with graveside military rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday.
