John Henry Curnutte, 93

John Henry Curnutte, "39", of Friendship, died Tuesday October 6, 2009 at SOMC Hospice. He was born December 21, 1915 in Stout to the late V.B. and Maude Woods Curnutte. He retired after 40 years of being a steelworker, was a WWII Army Veteran a member of Rome Masonic Lodge and a 45 year member of Friendship Tabernacle. Along with his parents John was preceded in death by his wife Lucy Mann Curnutte who he married on August 31, 1940 in Paintsville, KY. a son John C. Curnutte, 2 brothers; James "Doc" Curnutte and Wells Curnutte, 4 sisters; Goldie Kleinke, Bessie Hamilton, Mildred Sparks and Tillie Easter.

John is survived by a son William Michael Curnutte of Hartfield, GA., 2 daughters; Maude Ann Robinson of Palatka, FL and Stephanie (Gary) Humble of Stout, 1 brother George Curnutte of Stout and a sister Geneva Himes of Friendship, 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

There will be graveside services 11:00 AM Saturday October 10, 2009 at McKendree Cemetery in Stout with Jimmy McCullough officiating and military rites by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth from 5 to 8:00 PM on Friday where Masonic Services will be held at 8:00 PM.
