John Allen Hanley, 68

John Allen Hanley 68, of Portsmouth, died Monday April 14, 2008 at SOMC Hospice. He was born October 16, 1939 in New Boston to the late William Allen and Cleo Hicks Hanley. He was a Senior Accountant for Kentucky Ohio Transportation, he retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service, was a member of James Dickey Post 23 American Legion and the Parkinson's Support Group. Along with his parents John is preceded in death by a daughter Gina Sheraine Hanley.

John is survived by his wife Shirley Jean Waddell Hanley whom he married May 20, 1977. Also surviving are 2 sons; John Scott Hanley of British Columbia, Can., Christopher (Jodi) Hanley of Ontario, Can., 2 brothers; Bill Hanley of Portsmouth and Richard (Cheryl) Hanley of Lucasville, 5 sisters; Betty Enyart and Iva (Steve) Duncan both of Portsmouth, Lucy (Herschell) Collett of Lakeland Florida, Mary (George) Craft of Lucasville and Brenda (Robert ) Reeder of Wheelersburg, 3 grandchildren: Ryan Hanley of Newfoundland, Madison Hanley and John Robert Hanley both of Ontario, Can..

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday April 17, 2008 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Peter Michael officiating and participation by the Patriot Guard. Riders. Entombment will be at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg with graveside military rites by Wright Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday and 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday.
