John Harlan Murphy, 69
John Harlan Murphy, 69 of Friendship, died Sunday March 8, 2009 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born October 4, 1939 in Adams County to the late John and Myrtle Florence Lewis Murphy. He was a retired truck driver from Chaffin and Chaffin Trucking. He was a member of Sunshine Ridge Church and National Riffle Association. Along with his parents John was preceded in death by 3 brothers Carol Lee Murphy, Ralph Glenn Murphy and James Murphy and a sister Juanita Stepp.
John is survived by a son John Ethan Murphy of Wheelersburg, 2 daughters Jonda Sue Cooper of Friendship and Tina Courts of Butler, Ky., 5 grandchildren; Conway Cooper, Brandon Cooper, Makala Cooper, Gregory Purcell and Miranda Purcell along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Maurice Pierce officiating and interment in Sunshine Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 till 8:00 PM on Wednesday and 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com
