John W. Shupert, 71
John W. Shupert, 71 of Lucasville, died Monday September 15, 2008 at SOMC Hospice. He was born February 4, 1937 in Sedalia, OH to the late Harley Fredrick and Lula Faye Black Shupert Sr. He was a graduate of Ohio University with a BS degree and a MS Degree from LSU and another from University of Illinois. He retired from Shawnee State University and also taught at Ohio University Southern Campus. He was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Assn., and Scioto County Retired Teachers Assn., was a member of Portsmouth Elks Lodge #154, a Past Master of Centerville Masonic Lodge # 371 and a member of the Eastern Star Gallipolis Chapter # 283. John was also an avid golfer.
John is survived by his wife Delores Mae Fields Shupert, who he married March 2, 1957, 3 daughters; Karen (Larry) Rickey of Lucasville, Jovanna (Greg) Johnson of Minford and Kristina Payne of Lucasville, 5 grandchildren; Matthew and Daniel Rickey, Luke and Audrey Johnson and Amy Payne, a set of twin great grandsons Kathen and Austin Rickey, 3 brothers; Harley F. "Fred" Shupert Jr., Kenneth Lee Shupert and Dale Glenn Shupert all of West Portsmouth, 2 sisters Barbara Louise Moritz and Beverly Sue Riley both of West Portsmouth.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Jeff Dunn officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8:00 PM on Thursday and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday. The family's favorite charity is SOMC Hospice.
