Jonas Cooper, 77

Jonas Cooper, 77 of Stout stepson of the late Everett Lewis, and son of the late Jonas Cooper and Dorothy Holsinger Lewis died Sunday June 1, 2008 at his residence. Jonas was born December 29, 1930 in Buena Vista. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and was a Brick Mason at Detroit Steel.

Jonas is survived by two sons, Anthony and Gregory (Ruth) Cooper both of Stout; four grandchildren, Candice Whisman of Stout, Brandy Cooper of West Union, Debra Lewis of Portsmouth, and Leah Blevins of Stout; four great grandchildren, Layla, Kirsten, Elaina and Erica; two sisters, Ruth Hakala and Irene Schalck both of Chicago, IL., and a nephew Charles Cooper who was truly his brother at heart. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Cooper and two sisters, Zetta Young and Betty Caldwell.

Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Reverend Jeremiah Lewis officiating and interment in MeKendree Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 6 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com.
