Kathy Sturgell, 70

Kathy Sturgell, 70 of Waverly, died Monday July 7, 2025 at Bristol Village in Waverly. She was born November 16, 1954 in Portsmouth, to the late Loe and Frances Pullium Payne.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by a brother, Danny Payne, a sister, Phyllis Colley and a granddaughter, Cassandra Boyd.

She was a retired nurse for National Churches Residences where she worked for 27 years.

Kathy is survived by 2 daughters; Rachel Avery and Alice Mayo, a brother, Mitchell Payne, a sister, Tammy Thacker, 7 grandchildren; Taylor Caeter. Emma Caudill, Ella Sammons, Matalyn Mayo, Audrea Mayo and Collen Mayo along with 3 great grandchildren; Paisley, Zeke and Natalie.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 2, 2025 at McDermott Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com.
