Kootela "Kay" Collins, 85

Kootela "Kay" Payne Collins, 85 of West Portsmouth, died Friday, February 13, 2026 at her home. She was born November 11, 1940 in Rubyville to the late Boyd and Myrtle Frye Payne.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Steven E. Collins, whom she married on December 31, 1960, 2 brothers; Jack Payne and Bill Payne and a sister Cuba Piatt.

Kay was a member of Dry Run Church of Christ. She was a 4-H Leader and also active with the Boy Scouts.

She is survived by 2 sons; Gene (Elaine) Collins and John (Deana) Collins, a daughter, DeAnna (Rick) McKeever, 2 sisters; Karlene Ruggles and Carla (Dan) Craft, 9 grandchildren; Seth Collins, Sean Collins, Jessica Davis, Jeremiah Shinkle, Ben Shinkle, Johnathan Collins, Jacob Collins, Sarah Collins and Latesha Stephens along with 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Mark Seevers officiating and interment in Mershon Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday starting at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to SOMC Hospice.
