Leona E. Bevins 64

Leona E. Bevins 64 of West Portsmouth, died Friday, May 8, 2009 at her residence. Leona was born July 18, 1944 in Portsmouth to the late James and Ethel Horsley Brown. She was a homemaker. Leona was proceeded in death by her husband, John L. Bevins, 4 brothers; Jimmy, Abe, Lafe and Bill Brown, 5 sisters; Bertha Stone, Senna Brown, Alice Savage, Mary Frances Lake and Addie Kebbler.

Leona is survived by two daughters; Leona Bevins and Mary (George) Brown both of West Portsmouth, two sons; John (Angela) Bevins Jr. and Anthony (Teresa) Bevins of West Portsmouth, nephew (adopted son); Danny (Angie) Brown, 4 sisters; Mildred (Joseph) Lawhun of NC, Betty (Edward) Pollard of West Portsmouth, Vicky Brown of NC, Nancy Waughtel of Tacoma, Washington, one brother; Henry (Mary) Brown of West Portsmouth, 9 grandchildren; Amanda, Shannon, Freddie, Deven, Carrie, James, Anna, Carol and Cody, 5 great grandchildren; Benjamin, Colton, Clara, William Michael and Wessley.

Funeral services will be 5 PM Monday, May 11, 2009 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Rev. Mike Davis officiating and internment in McKendree Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 until the funeral hour on Monday. The family wishes for donations to be made on there behalf in lieu of flowers.
