Mary Curtis, 89
Mary Samantha Curtis, 89 , of West Portsmouth, died Thursday October 4, 2012 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born April 23, 1923 in Lucasville, Ohio to the late John and Winifred (Hilt) Mullins. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the first graduating class at Washington High School (Portsmouth West) where she helped pick the school mascot and the school colors. She was a proud Kentucky Colonel. She loved flowers, gardening, camping, fishing, and crocheting, and most of all, she loved her family. Mary was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jack and James Ray Mullins, and 2 brothers- in-law, Harold Linz and Gene Reeves.
Mary is survived by husband of 70 years and best friend, Milford Curtis Jr. She was a devoted and loving mother to 2 surviving children; Edwin Lee (Sue Ann) Curtis and Paula Suzette (Michael) Curtis Minton. She was a wonderful grandmother to Edwin Lee Curtis Jr., Mary Kaye (Bob) Apke, Laura Lee (Shane) Davis, Jeffrey Allen (Tricia) Curtis, Angela Hope (Paul) Nurnberg, and Theresa Louise Curtis; a dear sister to Eulene Linz, Betty Reeves and Glenn (Ella) Mullins. Also surviving are 6 step grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren, and many devoted nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday October 8, 2012 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Pastor Pete Shaffer officiating, and interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
