Mary Louise Pennington, 78
Mary Louise Pennington, 78 of West Portsmouth died Thursday, September 29, 2005 at Southern Ohio Medical Center after a long illness. She was surrounded by her family and friends. Mary was an employee of Wal-Mart in New Boston and became known as the "Wal-Mart Lady". At various times in her life she was employed by radio stations WNXT and WPAY. She was the weather lady on TV station WRLO in the 1960's. She was an avid amateur photographer and a ham radio and CB radio operator. She was a loyal NASCAR Fan and loved to travel.
Mary was born October 16, 1926 daughter of the late William and Margaret Welty Doherty. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Pennington, sister Lizabeth Ellis and granddaughter Michelle Lynn Brown.
Survivors include her best friend in life Nolan Silvey; daughters, Raye Lee Arnold and hus band Edward of Howard, OH; Denise Nims of Portsmouth; Mary Beth Colley and husband David O'Dell of Lucasville; Diana Brown of Winterville, GA; Jamie Sexton and husband Estill Sexton of Wheelersburg. Surviving sons Jeff Pennington of Blue Creek, Ohio; Chris Pennington and wife Cyndi of St. Augustine Beach, FL, and Craig "CB" Pennington of Gainesville, FL. Mary was loved by her many grandchildren Larry Colley, Kristin Harris, Kenny Nims, Bryan Arnold, Tiffany McCleese, Travis Pennington, Jennifer Pennington, Sara Jordan and Chase Jordan; great grandchildren Derek, Devon, Tanna, Marissa, Hannah, Kenddra and Nikii.
Surviving brothers include William (Sonny) Doherty and John Carl Doherty of Arizona, and Larry Doherty of Niles, OH, and Marshall Doherty of Orlando FL; Mary is also survived by two very special friends Marilyn Schamberg and Carman Rayburn of West Portsmouth and many nieces and nephers. She will be sadly missed by her many friends.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Monday, October 3, 2005 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Bill Colley officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 4 to 8 P.M. on Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
