Mary Meleese Knauff Phillips, 94

Mary Meleese Knauff Phillips, 94 of West Portsmouth died Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Hillview Retirement Center. Meleese was born May 8, 1913 in Wamsley, Ohio to the late Harry Julius and Myrta Florence Tracy Knauff. She was a graduate of Portsmouth Business College; worked at Portsmouth Auto Supply as a secretary; was a member of Nauvoo United Methodist Church, where she was secretary and treasurer for 25 years, a member of the Co-workers Class, and taught the Busy Bees Class; and was a member of the Over 55 Club. She served the church in many capacities but enjoyed singing in the choir most. Along with her parents Meleese was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Phillips whom she married November 11, 1934 in Greenup, KY. 2 sisters; Ora Freeman and Geneva Webb.

She is survived by her son Richard Lee (Barb) Phillips of McDermott and a daughter Dru Elaine Phillips of Austin Texas, 3 grandchildren Rick (Lois) Phillips of McDermott, Mick Phillips of Austin, Texas and Dreama (C.J.) Piatt of West Portsmouth, Great grandchildren: Tyson (Elizabeth Alexander) Phillips, Kyle (Drew) Phillips, Drew and Mandi Piatt. great great grandchildren; Tori, Cameron and Myles Phillips, three sisters, Lucille Jones of Fayetville, NC, Wilma Jean Crummie of Springfield, OH and Rosalie (John) Morris of Louisville, KY.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Nauvoo United Methodist Church in West Portsmouth with Pastor Pete Shaffer officiating and interment in McKendree Cemetery. Friends may call at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth from 4:00PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
