Mary K. "Kathy" Thompson, 61, of West Portsmouth, died Monday, September 10, 2024, at her home.  She was born December 18, 1962, in Portsmouth to the late Robert Lee and Gertrude (Journey) Thompson.  Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Thompson and a sister, Becky Mayberry.

She always enjoyed good conversation and made a career of taking care of others as a Home Healthcare Aide. She was a hard working person with a strong opinion but, with a big heart. She learned hustle at a young age to take care of herself and the people she was close to.  She had a passion to talk to friends and family

She is survived by her partner, Homer "Rich" Bailey of over 30 years; 2 sons, Michael (Lisa) and Josh (Christine) Hinkle; 2 stepsons, Jason (Andrea) and Andy (Julia Wiget) Bailey; 6 grandchildren, Brooklynn, Aiden and Landon Hinkle, Ethan Howell, McKenzie and Eli Bailey; a brother, Todd Thompson; and several nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
