Merle Adkins, 90

Merle Adkins, 90 of West Jefferson, formerly of West Portsmouth , died Monday March 30, 2015 at her home. She was born April 7, 1924 in Scioto County to the late Bernard and Alice Havring Grice. She worked at Williams Shoe Factory and was retired from Mercy Hospital where she was a Nurses Aid. Along with her parents Merle was preceded in death by her husband John William Adkins Sr. whom she married October 25, 1943 in Russell Kentucky, a son John William Adkins Jr and 5 brothers and a sister.

Merle is survived by a son Mike Adkins of West Jefferson, two daughters; Carol Collins of Columbus and Lisa Adkins Davis of West Jefferson, a brother Louie Grice of Hilliard, a sister Joy Egbert of Winter Haven Florida , 10 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday April 3, 2015 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with George Grice officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park . Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday starting at noon.
