Mervin "Bear" Richard Yantis, Jr., 50
Mervin "Bear" Richard Yantis, Jr., 50 of Portsmouth died Thursday, November 02, 2006, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. Mervin was born August 18, 1956 in Columbus to the late Mervin R. and Shirley Jones Yantis. He was a Longshoreman, a member of Local Union 1402 of Jacksonville, FL, and served in the Army during peace time and the Marine Corp in Viet Nam. He was a member of James William Post 471 and New Boston Eagles.
Mervin is survived by his wife Lisa Lamm Yantis; two sons, Brandon Yantis of Augusta, GA and Tyler Yantis of Portsmouth; two daughters, Valerie Nazworth/ Yantis and Danielle Yantis both of Portsmouth; two brothers, John Matthews and Jimmy Matthews; and two grandsons, Trenton and Kyler. He was preceded in death by a son Thomas "Bubba" Nazworth/Yantis and a brother Delbert Matthews.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Monday, November 6, 2006 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Kenneth Estep and Paul Ross officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park with Graveside Military Rites by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
