Michael Warren Lewis, 64

Michael Warren Lewis, 64 of Blue Creek passed away at his home on Wednesday January 27, 2016 after an extended illness. He was born March 9, 1951 in Portsmouth, OH to the late Warren Paul and Demia Nadine (Penn) Lewis.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Dawn and his 7 children; Christopher Michael and Jodi N. Lewis of Delaware, Ohio; Eric Owen Lewis of Hillsboro, OH., Brian Andrew and Kelia Lewis of Waverly, Cassandra Marie and Ricky Scarbro of Rock Creek, WV; John Anthony and Erica Jane Covey of Macarthur, WV; Michael Lee Covey of Fairdale, WV; and William Paul Lewis of Blue Creek. 13 Grandchildren; Amy, Seth, Angel, Ezra, Gracie, Miranda, Kelsey, Allison, Trevor, Molly, Noah, Jonah, and Aubry. Mike's surviving fur family include Gracie, Leddy, Clover Honey, Roxy, Venus, Apollo, Stash, Spring, Joy, Kanga, Monty, Sultan, Jasmine, Tsarina, Tinkerbelle, Pan, Ebony, and Petrushka.

Mike had a lifelong love of flying; not too surprising as both of his parents were Certified Flight Instructors as well as his dad retiring as Chief Corporate Pilot for GE Corporation. His late mother was one of the first female FAA Inspectors in the country…so it was natural the Mike was flying before he was driving. Mike also was a lifelong Certified Flight Instructor and after a 30 year career with GE Aviation Division, he spent the last 13 working with Jeppesen Sanderson (a division of Boeing) out of San Jose, CA. A lifelong involvement with Boy Scouts of America – in his early years as an active scout himself, then later as an adult he served in numerous capacities throughout the years.

A celebration of his life will be 2:00 PM Tuesday February 2, 2016 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth. There will be a gathering of family and friends beginning at 1:00 PM. As per Mike's wishes his body was donated to The Ohio State University, College of Medicine. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sierra's Haven. www.sierrashaven.org.
