Michael Dale Shaw, 68
Michael Dale Shaw, 68 of Portsmouth died Sunday July 19, 2015 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born April 5, 1947 in Scioto County to the late Harl and Thelma Myrle Vaughn Shaw. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Edward and Harlin Shaw, 2 half brothers; David Stout and Bill Combs and a half sister Thelma Flagg. Mike was a Class 4 Registered Sewage Operator for the State of Ohio, 1 of only 4 in Southern Ohio, he was retired from the City of Portsmouth, a former employee of the Village of Piketon and was currently working for the City of Ironton. He was also the Owner and Operator of B&S Operations. Mike was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, Nauvoo Masonic Lodge #769 where he was a Past Master, a member of the Scottish Rite, El Hasa Shrine, Portsmouth Shrine Club, and was also a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed Drag Racing and loved his little red corvette. Mike was also very proud to be an Organ Donor.
Mike is survived by his wife Beverly Daubert Shaw, who he married on March 5, 1972 in Chillicothe, a daughter, Cathleen Ruth (Raymond) Franklin of Portsmouth, and a granddaughter Raelyn Ruth Franklin, 2 brothers; Jackie Marion Shaw of Portsmouth and Gary Richard Shaw of West Portsmouth, a sister Rosa Bell Robbins of Hamilton, OH., close cousin Bernice (Robert) Duffy of Chillicothe, close nephew, Keith David (Debbie) Flagg of West Portsmouth and a close niece Carolyn Hiles of Latham and many other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 6:30 PM Friday July 24, 2015 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Father Steve Cuff officiating. Masonic services will follow at 7:30 PM under the direction of the Nauvoo Masonic Lodge # 769. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home of Friday starting at 4:30 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Nauvoo Masonic Lodge Scholarship Fund or the All Saints Memorial Fund. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com
