Mitchell A. Trimble, 86 of West Portsmouth died Wednesday May 2, 2012 at SOMC Hospice. He was born October 6, 1925 in Greenup Kentucky to the late James and Verdie Frazier Trimble. Mitchell was inducted into the US Army on December 16, 1943 at Ft Thomas, Kentucky. He served in WWII in South Philippines Liberation and RyuKyus. He received an Asistic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and a Victory Medal for WWII. Mitchell retired from Goodyear Atomic Corporation in Piketon in 1988. Along with his parents Mitchell was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Ellis, Neville and P. Warren Trimble, a grandchild Ross Martin Hamilton III and a great great grandchild Raegan Holbrook.
Mitchell is survived by his wife Elnora M Ratliff Trimble who he married on July 20, 1946, 2 daughters; Linda (Otis) Banks of Lucasville and Elizabeth (Ross) Hamilton of West Portsmouth, a son Mitchell (Catherine) Trimble of Sciotoville, 3 sisters; Clara Montgomery, Celestial Johnson and Ruth Knauff, 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday May 5, 2012 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Brian Holbrook officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park with graveside military rites by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8:00 PM on Friday and 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday. The family's favorite charity is SOMC Hospice.
