Mollie Lora Tackett Wilson Cooper, 93
Mollie Lora Tackett Wilson Cooper, 93, went to be with our Lord June 9, 2006. She was born April 1, 1913 in Wales, Kentucky, the oldest daughter of the late Noah Tackett and Mamie Hopkins Tackett.
Mollie maintained her residence in West Portsmouth, Ohio until she moved to Riverview
Retirement Center in Portsmouth in February of 2003. She was a member of the Nauvoo United Methodist Church since 1955 and a prominent citizen of her communities. Mollie's love for the Lord radiated through her smile and words of encouragement to anyone she talked with, be it a happy or sad occasion. She was devoted to her many brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews, and was always there when we needed her. She will be deeply missed by all, but she leaves precious memories as a gift from her life.
During her work career, Mollie was a riveter for Briggs Manufacturing in Michigan. Her job duties included inserting rivets in the wings of airplanes during World War II. She was a Rosie the Riveter and was featured in the Daily Times recently. She also worked for the Selby Shoe Company in Portsmouth, Ohio, and retired from Williams Manufacturing Company in Portsmouth after 29 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Virgil Wilson in 1959 and Clyde Cooper in 1988, three brothers, Arthur Tackett, Estill Tackett, and Noah Leon Tackett, four sisters, Jewel Edith Tackett who died of pneumonia as a young child, Rosalee Tackett died at birth, Donna Marie Shawver, and Pauline Cassity.
Mollie is survived by her step daughter Pauline Adams of Portsmouth, Ohio, a step grandson Gary (Vickie) Adams of West Portsmouth, Ohio, a step great grandson Ryan Adams of Piketon, Ohio, two brothers, Frank Tackett of Worthington, Kentucky and Donald (Barbara) Tackett of MacClenny, Florida and two sisters-in-law Betty Tackett and Whilemena Tackett of Ashland, Kentucky. She also is survived by Janet Reutinger, Roger Tackett, Nancy Bays, and Kellie Reedy, her nieces and nephew in Portsmouth, Ohio and many nieces and nephews, including great and great great nieces and nephews, in Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Florida.
Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Pastor Pete Shaffer officiating and interment in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg, Ohio.
