Nancy Jean McDowell, 88

Nancy Jean McDowell, 88, of Wheelersburg, died January 10, 2024, at her home. She was born in Portsmouth on April 1, 1935, to the late Allie Barker and Nancy (Marlow) Hoop. Along with her parents Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of over 45 years, Donald E. McDowell and a brother, Joe Morrow Jr..

Nancy was a 1953 graduate of Portsmouth High School. After graduation, she worked at Williams Manufacturing Company in the IBM Department and then for the Retail Credit Company. Along with her career she also found time to be a part of many organizations. She helped organize Roy Rogers Festival, was a Scioto County Republican Party Committee Member where she was the Executive Board Secretary. She was also a devoted Poll worker during elections. She was a member of the Ohio National Guard Enlisted Association Auxiliary and EANGUS Auxiliary. She was very proud that she could say she had visited every state in the United States.

Nancy is survived by family and many friends who loved her and will miss her.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday January 17, 2024 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Merit Smith officiating. Interment will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday starting at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ohio National Guard Enlisted Association.
