Nellie Elizabeth Hurley, 86
Nellie Elizabeth Hurley 86 of Portsmouth went to be with the Lord Friday February 15, 2008 at Heartland of Portsmouth. She was born September 24, 1921 in Greenup County, Ky to the late George Benjamin and Margaret Evelyn Deboard Piatt. She was Superintendent of Hillcrest Childrens Home from 1967 to 1974, was a foster grandparent for the past 22 years at Vern Riffe Star Workshop and West End Day Care, and attended Dry Run Mission Church. Along with her parents Nellie is preceded in death by her first husband Franklin Leroy Rice, second husband Donald W. Hurley, an infant daughter, a sister Icia Jackeivich and a brother Raleigh Piatt.
Nellie is survived by 2 sons; Frank (Diana) Rice of West Portsmouth and Roy (Debra) Rice of Columbus, 1 daughter Judy (Donald) Rhoden of Portsmouth, a sister Lovana Stewart of Bend, Or., a nephew Randy Stewart a niece Regina Stewart, 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday February 19, 2008 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Pastor Mark Bales officiating and interment in Rushtown Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8:00 PM on Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com
