Norman Richard Ricks, 73
Norman Richard Ricks, 73 of Portsmouth, died Thursday October 14, 2010 at Heartland Hospice of Columbus. He was born March 13, 1937 in Portsmouth to the late Clinton and Edna Hafer Ricks. He was a former Empire Detroit Steel worker and a US Army veteran. He loved outdoor sports; hunting, fishing and golf. He also liked NASCAR. Along with his parents Norman was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Clinton, Darrell and Buford Ricks.
Norman is survived by his wife Lavanda Boyd Ricks who he married on February 12, 1961 in Portsmouth, 3 sons; Richard Ricks of Senecaville, OH, William (Mary) Ricks of Port Lucie, FL. And John (Carol) Ricks of Canal Winchester, 1 daughter Cheryl Howe of Ft Pierce, FL, a brother James Ricks of Texas, 2 sisters; Deloris Risner of Sciotoville and Naomi (Bob) Rose of West Portsmouth, 6 grandchildren; Rebecca Howe, Raeshele Ricks, Andrew Ricks, Hailee Ricks, Allison Heilbrunn and Mark Heilbrunn, 1 great granddaughter Makaila Kimbriel and a special cousin Gary Boyd.
Funeral services will be 12:00 PM on Monday October 18, 2010 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Janis Elliott officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with graveside military rites by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday starting at 10:00 am.
