Ortencia Jewel Morrow, 86
Ortencia Jewel Morrow, 86 of West Portsmouth, died Thursday March 19, 2009 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born June 3, 1922 in Charters, Lewis County, Kentucky to the late Leonidas and Hattie Cropper Peed. She worked at the Eight Street Bakery and William Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Dry Run Church of Christ, Ladies Auxiliary of the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Along with her parents Ortencia was preceded in death by her husband James Leonard Morrow who she married on Christmas Eve in 1941, a son James Michael Morrow, a granddaughter, Kimberly Hilliard and 2 brothers; Leland Peed and Delbert Peed and a sister Virginia Spence.
Ortencia is survived by 2 daughters; Carolyn (David) Hilliard of Xenia and Marilyn (David) Schomburg of West Portsmouth, 5 grandchildren; Bryan Hilliard of Columbus, Julia (Curtis) Paul of Jamestown, Vicky (Harry) Mullen, Michael (Crystal) Adkins and Eric Schomburg all of West Portsmouth, 5 great grandchildren; Kyler and Kaleb Paul, Harry James Mullen and Abigail and Braden Adkins.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday March 23, 2009 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Mark Seevers officiating and interment in Sunset Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7:00 PM on Sunday and 1 hour prior to the service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Dry Run Church of Christ.
