Oscar E. Swords Jr., 68

Oscar E. Swords Jr. (Buddy) 68, of South Webster, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at SOMC in Portsmouth. He was born December 28, 1947 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Oscar E. and Mary Ramey Swords. He was a graduate of West High School, and retired from Ohio Valley Schools. He was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Portsmouth, and a reverend for more than 30 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Ronald Swords and Archie Swords.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis Ann Parker Swords, whom he married November 2, 1968 in West Union, a son Chris Swords of Minford, a daughter Kimberly Reeder of West Portsmouth; five grandchildren, Cody and Cheyenne Swords both of Minford, Miranda Reeder of Jacksonville FL, Marisa and Macayla Reeder both of West Portsmouth, three great grandchildren Landon, Haleigh and Peighton; three sisters, Gloria Means of Chillicothe, Cherry Briggs and Tressa Hackworth both of West Portsmouth, five brothers, Tim Swords of Chillicothe, Johnny Swords, Rickey Swords, Albert Swords, Scott Swords, all of West Portsmouth.

Funeral Services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday March 5, 2016 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Pastor Tony Knittel, Don Hammond and Randy Schintzius officiating. Interment will be in McKendree Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8:00 PM on Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
