Patsy L. Canter, 78

Patsy L. Canter, 78, of West Portsmouth, died Saturday January 14, 2017 at Heartland of Portsmouth. She was born February 19, 1938 in Quincy, KY to the late Fred Combs Sr. and Dora Stratten Combs Curtis. She was retired from Williams Shoe Manufacturing and worked for several years at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg. She was a member of Carey's run Church of Christ for 56 years, where she taught Sunday School and was in the Ladies Aid Circle. Along with her parents Patsy was preceded in death by her husband David Gene Canter, a brother Fred Combs Jr. and brother in law David E. Horsley.

Patsy is survived by 2 sons; David Gene (Cassie) Canter Jr. of Carlisle, OH and Robert (Becky) Canter of Longview, TX, a daughter Shelly (Brian) Kallas of Wheelersburg, 8 grandchildren; Sara (Nathan) McKinley, Zachary Canter and Jacob Canter all of Longview, TX, Jeffrey Canter, Alexis Canter and Rachel Canter of Minford, Lauren Kallas and Nickolas Kallas of Wheelersburg and 2 great grandchildren; Caleb and Elijah McKinley, a brother Joseph Combs of Chillicothe, 2 sisters; Margaret Combs and Cecelia Lansing both of Piketon, an aunt Beulah Justice of Dayton, sister in law Donna Canter of Tulsa, OK., 2 nephews; David W. Horsley of Ill. and Daniel Horsley of Tulsa, OK and a niece Dawn Guthrie of Tulsa, OK.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday January 19, 2017 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with James Osborne officiating and interment in Friendship Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. The family's favorite charities are SOMC Hospice and Carey's Run Church of Christ.
