Paul L. Vernier, 86

Paul L. Vernier 86 of Chillicothe, formaly of West Portsmouth, died Thursday September 13, 2007 at Westmorland Place in Chillicothe. He was born July 23, 1921 in West Portsmouth to the late Louis Cook and Frances Cooper. Paul was retired from Chillicothe Correctional Institute after 38 years of service. He was a WWII Army Air Corp Veteran and a member of American Legion Post 62 in Chillicothe. Peeps always looked forward to spending time with his beloved grand babies who all enjoyed his stories and sense of humor.

Paul is survived by his wife of 66 years Midge Ferguson Vernier, 3 sons: Paul Roger Vernier, and Kevin (Patricia) Vernier both of Chillicothe, Arthur Vernier of Buckeye, AZ, 2 daughters: Sherry (Joseph P. Jr.) Smith of Germantown, OH and Cassie (Tim C.) Cottrill of Cincinnati, 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, 3 sisters: Judy Cooper, Kathleen Vernier and Priscilla Wyrick all of Portsmouth. Paul was also preceded in death by a beloved daughter-in-law Dora Conley Vernier and a grandson Mark Edwin Vernier.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday September 16, 2007 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Jerry Ferguson officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery with graveside military rites by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.
