Phillip "Ab" Woodard, 83
Phillip "Ab" Woodard, 83 of West Portsmouth, a devoted Christian went home to be with the Lord on Sunday August 15, 2010 at SOMC Hospice. He was born February 18, 1927 in Peebles to the late Edward and Lillian Hatfield Woddard. He was a retired carpenter and was a member of Carpenter Local #437. He was an Army veteran and a member of Temple Baptist Church. Ab was a builder of many buildings, churches and lives in Scioto County. Along with his parents Ab was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Abbot Woodard, a daughter Jeanie Hanzel and a brother Joseph Woddard.
Ab is survived by his wife Charlotte Stout Woodard who he married in 1977, a son Kendall (Debbie) Woodard of Waverly, 2 daughters; Charlene Pierce and Karen Berkemer both of Atlanta, 3 step sons; Mike (Kim) Bower, Todd (Stephanie) Bower and Terry (Christy) Bower all of West Portsmouth, a stepdaughter Kathy (Jim) Pierron of Portsmouth, a brother Bob Woodard of Wheelersburg, a sister Ruby Rhea of Sciotoville, 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday August 18, 2010 at Temple Baptist Church with Reverend John Gowdy officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with graveside military rites by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth from 5 to 9:00 PM on Tuesday and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
