Phyllis Jean York, 76

Phyllis Jean York, 76 of West Portsmouth, passed away Wednesday July 14, 2010 at OSU Medical Center while surrounded by her family. She was born September 26, 1933 in Scioto County to the late Peter and Thelma Yeager. Along with her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by a brother Howard Yeager and a sister June Brickey.

Phyllis was retired from Washington-Nile Local School District (West Schools) with over 30 years of delivering "her other kids" to and from school as a bus driver. Phyllis was also an accomplished markswoman, winning 2 state championships in the early 1950's with a riffle. She loved to travel, camp and fish.

Phyllis is survived by her husband Roy York who she married on March 14, 1953, 2 sons; Phillip "Poodle" York of Portsmouth and Scott (Sonya) York of West Portsmouth, the loves of her life her granddaughters; Ashley (Matt) Johnson of Waverly, Katelyn and Karlee York of West Portsmouth and great granddaughter McKayla Johnson of Waverly, along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday July 19, 2010 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Harold Rutledge officiating and interment in Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
