Raymond R. Howard, 78
Raymond R. Howard, 78 of West Portsmouth passed away Sunday, October 17, 2004 at Southern Ohio Medical Center after a brief illness. Raymond, a lifetime resident of Portsmouth, was born March 13, 1926 to the late Ruben and Rebecca Prater Howard. He was a decorated WW II Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion and retired from the Norfolk and Western Railroad.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 60 years Ethel Marie Howard of Heritage Square, one daughter, Judy Bond of Shepherd Fork Dry Run, a sister Edna May Wallin of Golden Years Retirement Home; three grandchildren, Ronda Jordan of Carey's Run-Pond Creek, Brian Bond of Candy Run Lucasville and Anita Skaggs of Dry Run West Portsmouth; six great-grandchildren, Rusty and Brandon Jordan, Andy and Jamie Bond and Jesse Ray and Evan Skaggs. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Russ Wiley Spradlin and Hershel Spradlin, and three sisters Pearl May Fraley, Mary Cottrell and Ora Hudson.
Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Thursday, October 21, 2004 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with interment in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 6 to 9 P.M. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Graveside Military Rites will be given by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. The family's favorite charity is the Ronald McDonald House. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com.
