Raymond Lovell Ruggles, 91

Raymond Lovell Ruggles, 91 of West Portsmouth died Friday, May 14, 2021 at his home. He was born November 17, 1929 in New Boston to the late Henry and Anna Henderson Ruggles.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kyle Ruggles, 4 brothers; Nenvel, Leslie, Donald and Ancel Ruggles and 2 sisters; Beulah Ruggles and Shelia Justus.

Lovell was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad and was a member and Elder at Mt. Zion Apostolic Church.

Lovell is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shelby Jean Deaver Ruggles whom he married on March 7, 1953, a son, Martin Ruggles, a daughter, Penny Johnson, 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Margaret Ruggles, and a sister, Sharon Queen.

Funeral services 1:00 PM Friday, May 21, 2021 at Mt. Zion Apostolic Church with George Gravely officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park with graveside military rites by Lucasville Post 363 American Legion. Friends may call at the church on Friday starting at 11:00 AM.
