Obituary

Rev. Coy R. McGinnis 67, of Stout, died Saturday, Nov. 18th after a long illness. He was born Dec. 14, 1938 in West Portsmouth to the late George W. and Mary Lucille Tabor McGinnis. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gloria Jean Hersey McGinnis; five sons, Ray (Nancy) McGinnis of Stout, Brent (Karen) McGinnis of Portsmouth, Craig (Nicole) McGinnis of Westerville, Scott McGinnis, at home and Mike (Polly) Wirick of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren, Andy (Jessica) McGinnis, April (Gary) Chaffins, Courtney McGinnis, Crystal McGinnis, Alyssa McGinnis, Matthew McGinnis, April Wirick, Brittany Wirick; a sister, Linda (Bill) Cooper; an uncle F. Lee (Charlotte) Tabor; an aunt, Geneva (Frank) Pirog and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Coy was active in Christian ministry for over 51 years. He served as church administrator, had four pastorates and traveled extensively in the field of evangelism across the United States, Canada and Haiti. He was also a song evangelist and wrote several songs, the most well known being "He'll Furnish the Grace". He had friends in many denominations and loved them all. He will be greatly missed by his family and all of those friends but we all have the hope of a grand reunion with him in heaven.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday November 21, 2006 at the Nauvoo United Methodist Church in West Portsmouth with Rev. Tom Reed of Chicago officiating. Interment will be in McKendree cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday at Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, and from 10 to 11 on Tuesday at the church.
