Richard W. Berry, 88, formerly of Stout, died Friday, October 6, 2006 at Minford Retirement Center in Minford, Ohio.
Richard was born August 7, 1918 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Charles and Elizabeth Phillips Berry. He was a carpenter for over 60 years and a member of Carpenters Local Union 437 and a member of the Rome Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He served in the Marine Corp during WWII.
He is survived by his wife Julia Williams Berry, one son, Jim (Anita) Berry of, Mt. Vernon; a daughter Ann (John) Spriggs, of McDermott; 6 grandchildren, Jim Berry, Jason Evans, Joe Spriggs, John Spriggs, Jason Spriggs, and Janie Donaldson; and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Berry and an infant Sister.
Funeral services will be 11a.m. Monday, October 9, 2006, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Rev. Matthew Brooks officiating and internment in McKendree Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8p.m. on Sunday and one hour before the services on Monday. Masonic services by the Rome Lodge will be held at 8p.m. Sunday.
