Richard Clayton Deaver, 86
Richard Clayton Deaver, 86, of West Portsmouth died Thursday, December 16, 2004 at Hempstead Manor. Richard was born June 25, 1918 in New Boston to the late Daniel H. and Serena Hall Deaver. Richard was a WWII Army Veteran, retired as a custodian from Washington Twp Schools, and attended Mt. Zion Apostolic Church.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Zelma Craft Deaver. He is survived by two sons, Vernon (Carolyn) Deaver and Robert (Deborah) Deaver both of West Portsmouth; four daughters, Shelby (Lovell) Ruggles, Serena Messer, Lola (Douglas) Cooley, Barbara (Harold) Kirk all of West Portsmouth; 28 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, and 15 great, great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, William and Forrest Deaver, and two sisters, Avis Salyer and Elenora Monk.
Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Monday, December 20, 2004 at Mt. Zion Apostoic Church with Pastor Donald Harr officiating and interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Graveside Military Rites will be given by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion.
Friends may call at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth from 2 to 4 P.M. on Sunday and at the Church one hour prior to the service on Monday. Condolences may be sent to deaverfamily@rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com
