Richard L. Eichenlaub, 69
Richard L. Eichenlaub (69) passed away on March 3rd, 2018 in Hinesville, Georgia. Richard was born in Otway, Oh to John and Mary Eichenlaub on October 7th, 1948.
Richard spent the majority of his life serving and protecting the country he loved. Richard was a retired Sergeant First Class (E7) with the United States Army. During his time in the United States Army, Richard is one few soldiers who served tours in the Vietnam War and Persian Gulf War. Over his 20 years of service, Richard received numerous military honors including: The Bronze Star Medal with Combat Distinguished Service (Vietnam War), Purple Heart (Vietnam War), Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. Upon retirement, Richard resided in Hinesville, Georgia. Richard was known as good neighbor, community member, friend, and Uncle to many Nieces and Nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by parents, John and Mary (Pennigton) and brothers Donald (Marilyn) and James (Athena) Eichenlaub.
Richard is survived by 3 Nephews, Tony, Daniel, and Mark Eichenlaub, 1 niece Sharon Scott, and 2 special friends, Troy and C.J. Bentley.
A graveside service will take place at 11:00 AM Saturday March 31, 2018 at Moon Cemetery in Otway, Ohio for his friends and family here in Ohio. Graveside military rites will be provided by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. A graveside service was held at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, GA on Friday, March 23, 2018.
