Richard James, 81

Richard James, 81 of Hocking County formerly of Portsmouth died Tuesday September 20, 2022 at Lanfair Nursing Home in Lancaster. He was born April 23, 1941 in Portsmouth to the late Charles and Lillian Galloway James. Richard was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and was a Registered nurse where he worked for the IRS where he worked as a occupational health nurse for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife Nancy VonderHaar James whom he married March 3, 2003. Richard is also survived by a son, Richard (Andrea) James, a daughter Beth (Mahesh) Dalvi, 2 stepdaughters, Kristin Meece (Scott Lohman), and Denise Kernan, a brother Phillip (Carolyn) James, a sister Diana (Chuck) Kitchen, and 4 grandchildren, Cameron Clark, Cole James, Clay James, and Franklin Kernan.

Funeral services will be 1:00PM Monday September 26, 2022 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Dan Crawford officiating and interment in Lucasville Cemetery with military graveside rites by the American Legion Post 471. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday starting at 11AM. In Lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
