Robert Coleman, 80
Robert (Bob) Coleman, 80, humbly received his ANGEL wings when he joined his heavenly Father and heavenly family on Valentine's Day February 14, 2012 after passing to his eternal rest at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida. Bob was born on August 26, 1931 to the late Clay and Gaynell Coleman and spent his youth living on Slab Run in West Portsmouth with his parents and siblings. After serving in the Air Force he spread his wings as a construction contractor traveling in Ohio, Kentucky, and Texas before landing in Palmetto, Florida for the final years of his life.
Bob is survived by his sweetheart, Janice Berryman Coleman, to whom he married on January 16, 1969. A son, Robert Clay (Robbie) Coleman and his wife Jamie of Batavia, Ohio along their children, Devon and Clay also survive. Sisters and brother-in-laws, Delores and Tom Book of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Maxine and Harry Cassidy of West Portsmouth and brother and sister-in-law Doug and Cathy Coleman of West Portsmouth mourn the loss of their older brother and brother-in-law. Also left to keep the memory of their brother-in-law are Joyce Coleman, Juanita Coleman, Barbara Coleman and Patricia Coleman along with Jan's family Mel and Phyllis Berryman of Louisville Kentucky and Danny and Julie Berryman of Mount Sterling, Kentucky. Bob also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends whom he loved sweetly.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Gaynell Coleman, brothers and sister-in-law, Bill and Marcella Coleman, Irvin Coleman, Boone Coleman, Russell Coleman, Larry Coleman, Jerry Coleman and a nephew Steve Coleman.
Bob enjoyed traveling with his siblings and was a wonderful host when family and friends visited his and Jan's home in Florida. Bob was the "star" when he recently celebrated his 80th birthday with a surprise party at the Elks Country Club.
Funeral services will be held on 2:00 PM Sunday February 19, 2012 the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Pastor Pete Shaffer officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park with graveside military rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may join the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour to express their sympathy.
