Robert William Johnson, 88

Robert William "Papaw" Johnson, 88 of West Portsmouth, died Thursday February 24, 2011 at SOMC Hospice. He was born July 26, 1922 in Adams County to the late Jesse Andrew and Nancy Elizabeth Nelson Johnson Sr. He worked at Detroit Steel for 35 years He was an Army veteran and served as a Medic during WWII . Along with his parents Bob was preceded in death by his wife Anna Pearl McCoy Johnson who he married on December 11, 1944 and a son-in-law Everett Bumgardner, 2 brothers Carl Marion Johnson and Johnny Johnson, 3 sisters; Opal McGlothlin, Eunice Elizabeth Frost and Patricia Jean Ogden..

Bob is survived by his daughter Pamela Johnson Bumgardner of West Portsmouth and her finance William Garver of Columbus, a brother Jesse Andrew Johnson Jr. of Estero, FL along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday February 28, 2011 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Rick Phillips officiating and interment in Locust Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
