Robert Edward Maple, 87

Robert Edward Maple, 87 of Wheelersburg, died Thursday, September 5, 2024 at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. He was born February 5, 1937 in Portsmouth, to the late William J. and Myrtle Mauk Maple.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Deanna Maple, a son, Robert P. Maple, 2 brothers; William J. Maple Jr. and Ralph Maple and 3 sisters; Mildred Maple, Lorraine Duncan and Dorothy Barry.

Bob worked for 30 years at Detroit Steel and 10 years at Shawnee State University. Bob had a love for music and ballroom dancing and won many dance contests. Bob most recently spent an evening ballroom dancing and said that he only danced, "The slow ones". He lived 87 wonderful years and will be sadly missed by his friends and family.

Bob is survived by 4 grandchildren; Maggie Maple, Madison Maple, McKenzie Maple and Matthew Maple all of Georgia, several nieces and nephews, who will miss his humor, his music and his caring for others.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Edgewood Abby Mausoleum in Memorial Burial Park. Interment in memorial Burial park will follow the service. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to SOMC Hospice. The family would also like to thank the nurses and staff at King's Daughters Medical Center for their wonderful care of Bob.
