Russell L. Kammer 80
Russell L. Kammer, 80, of West Portsmouth died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at SOMC Hospice Center. Russell was born July 8, 1927 in Portsmouth to the late Gilbert and Rachel Hamm Kamer. He was also proceeded in death by his son; John Kammer and three brothers; William, Paul and Roy Kammer. Russell had worked for Detroit Steel, Retired from the Coke Plant in New Boston, was a member of Dry Run Church of Christ, James Dickey Post 23 American Legion and an Army Veteran.
Russell is survived by his wife, Juanita Johnson Kammer, whom he married April 24, 1948 in Greenup, KY, three sons; Gary (Linda) Johnson, Dave (Debbie) Kammer of West Portsmouth and Mike (Becky) Kammer of Stout, one daughter; Carolyn (Phillip) James of Chipley, FL, one brother; Gilbert Kamer Jr. of Portsmouth and 9 grandchildren; Duane (Mary) Johnson, Ronda Johnson, Rene (Ray) Quinn, Phillip James Jr., Shannon Kammer, Justin (Renee')Kammer, Chad Kammer, Missy (Shawn) Tatman and Jason (Missy) Waller and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2PM, Sunday, March 16, 2008 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with Mark Seevers officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park, with graveside military rites by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8PM on Saturday and one hour before the service on Sunday. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the SOMC Hospice Center.
