Sally Ann Richmond, 54

Sally Ann Richmond, 54 of Friendship, died Friday September 24, 2010 at Southern Ohio Medical Center after a sudden illness.

She was born Sally Ann Gilbert, on December 21, 1955 in Tavistock, Devon, England to the late Jonathan J. and Eva D Gilbert. She was raised in Pyle Glamorgan, South Wales, U.K. from the age of 8. Educated at Kenfig Hill School and Cardiff University, she became a social worker for troubled teens. She also backpacked throughout Europe, North Africia and America over a period of years. In 1986 she trained as a whitewater raft guide in West Virginia, where she met her husband Jack B Richmond who survives. After marriage she became a homemaker.

Along with her husband Sally is survived by her two greatest accomplishments, her daughters; Gwennan D. Richmond of Athens and Brecon B. Richmond of Friendship, also surviving are 2 brothers; Tim J. (Sue) Gilbert of Cheltenham, England and Robin P. (Leslie) Gilbert of Brisbane, Australia, along with their children Eva and Petra Gilbert of Cheltenham and Sam and Molly Gilbert of Brisbane. Sally's loving, cheerful and carefree nature is sorely missed by her family and many friends around the world.

Funeral services will be 7:30 PM Thursday September 30, 2010 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Reverend Matthew Brookes officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday starting at 5:00 PM In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army in Sally's name.
