Stella M. Smedley, 81

Stella M. Smedley, 81 of West Portsmouth, died Thursday August 20, 2009 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born May 5, 1928 in Fullerton, Kentucky to the late William Forest and Cora Lee Skaggs Lowe. Stella worked at Williams Shoe Manufacturing, the Title Dept and at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home for many years. She was a member of Old Town United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Shanoah Guild. Along with her parents Stella was preceded in death by her husband Donald William Smedley who she married on June 27, 1948, a son Steven Smedley, 4 brothers; Asbery, Brady, Elijah and Edgar Lowe, 6 sisters; Dorotha Mae White, Verna Lowe, Erma Meenach, Lou Ella Medley, Rosa Ruth Lowe and HattieAlice Lowe.

Stella is survived by two sons; Kevin (Anne) Smedley of West Portsmouth, Mark (Judith) Smedley of Portland, Oh, daughter-in-law; Jeanne Smedley of Portland, TN, five grandchildren; Tania Rosario of Seattle, WA, Guy (Kenul) Rosario of Victoria, British Columbia, Judy Mae (David) Farmer of Jacksonville, Oh, William Smedley of Washington, DC, Arian Celeste (Sid) McFarland of Long Island, NY and five great grandchildren; Kiora Rosario, Kia Rosario, Mia Farmer, David Farmer Jr. and Damon Farmer.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday August 23, 2009 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Reverend Matthew Brookes and Patricia Ciraso officiating and interment in Sunset Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8:00PM on Saturday and 1 hour prior to the service on Sunday. Also on Sunday at 2:00 PM in conjunction with the funeral service will be a memorial service for her son Steven Smedley who passed away on September 23, 2008 in Portland. Tenn.
