Thomas Merritt Hansen, 87

Thomas Merritt Hansen, 87, a World War II Navy Veteran passed away at Southern Ohio Medical Center February 11, 2006. He was a son of the late Thomas B. and Margaret Graham Hansen. He is survived by his of wife of 61 years Margie Scott Hansen, one son, Jeffrey (Barbara) Hansen of McDermott; two daughters, Margaret "Peggy" (Charles) Newman and Nancy Thomas both of Lucasville. He was employed by Waller Brothers for many years.

He is also survived by six grandchildren, Brent Newman of Morris, IL, Troy (Rachele) Newman of Pond Creek, Bradley (Jo Ellen) Thomas of Cincinnati, Ryan Thomas of Indianapolis, IN, Dustin (Annette) Thomas of Cincinnati and Lori (Justin) Lute of Columbus; seven great grandchildren, Peter and Levi Newman, Abigail, Bethany and Ethan Thomas and Isaac and Seth Lute.

Thomas was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Fred, and James Hansen; four sisters, Marie Koch, Catherine Penn, Ruth Murray and infant sister Violet.

He is survived by two brothers, John Hansen of Montgomery, AL and Gene Hansen of Hobart, IN; three sisters, Mary Hamilton of Portsmouth, Jeanette Thompson of Florida and Betty Adams of Xenia; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Reverend George Vastine and Reverend Robert Temple officiating and burial at Scioto Burial Park with Graveside Military Rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 6 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Special thanks to Hospice of Southern Ohio.
