Violet Ann Milstead, 75

Violet Ann Mullins Milstead, 75 of West Portsmouth died at her residence Saturday, May 24, 2008. Violet was born December 9, 1932 in West Portsmouth to the late John A. and Elennora M. Deaver Monk. She was a founder of Mt. Zion Apostolic Church and had worked as a pillar in the church from its beginning.

Violet is survived by her husband Donald Raymond Milstead whom she married March 25, 1951. She is also survived by two daughters, Pamela N. (Ron) Lane of Knoxville, TN and Crystle L. (Matthew) Justice of Sciotoville; a son, Roger D. (Terri) Milstead of Lakeland, FL; three sisters, Eloise Osborne of West Portsmouth, Connie (William) Bates of Jacksonville, FL, Jacolyn (Steven) Skidmore of Greenup, KY; two brothers, Douglas (Trula) Monk and Rick (Jennie) Monk both of West Portsmouth; nine grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Mullins, a sister Loreen Mullins and a son-in-law Ronnie Lane.

Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Mt. Zion Apostolic Church, 1514 16th Street, West Portsmouth with Reverend Edward Messer and Don Harr officiating. Friends may call at Mt. Zion Apostolic Church from 5 P.M. Monday, May 26, 2008 until the hour of the service on Tuesday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth.
