Virgil "Spike" Furtaw, Jr. 77
Virgil "Spike" Furtaw, Jr, of Waverly, died Sunday, October 19, 2008 at his residence. Virgil was born August 30, 1931 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Virgil Henry and Delma Horner Furtaw Sr. Virgil served in the Marine Corp. and was a retired Merchant Marine.
Virgil is survived by his wife Laura Marie Priest Furtaw whom he married May 9, 1955 in Rockville, Maryland; two sons, Kenneth (Nila) Furtaw of West Portsmouth and Michael (Cheryl) Furtaw of Lawrenceville, Ga; two daughters, Bonnie Furtaw of Chillicothe and Carol (Kelly) Shy of McDermott; two brothers, Larry and Ed Furtaw of Bay City, MI; two sisters, Judy Danks and Louise Lepeck of Bay City, MI; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11am Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Father David Young officiating. Friends may call at the Funeral home from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. The family would like to thank Hospice for all there support.
