Walter E. and Zelma F. Smalley, 82
Walter E. "Dude" and Zelma F. "Z" Lundy Smalley both 82 of McDermott died Wednesday April 2, 2014. Dude was born July 14, 1931 in Otway to the late Walter A. and Margaret E. Hull Smalley and died at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. He was a Stone Mason and retired from Goodyear Atomic Plant after 43 years as a Chemical Operator. Z was born July 18, 1931 in McDermott to the late Rial W. and Pauline A. Burcham Lundy and died at her home in McDermott. She was a homemaker and also worked at Smith Everett Hospital in Portsmouth. Along with their parents they were preceded in death by a son Phillip W. Smalley and a grandson Aaron M. Smalley. Their favorite saying was "Remember us with smiles and laughter" They are survived by 3 sons; Jimmy E. (Mary Lee) Smalley and Edwin R. (Karen) Smalley all of Lucasville and Marvin H. Smalley of Charleston, SC., 3 daughters; Paula J. ( Jim) Nordrum of The Villages, FL., Karin F. Duncan of King, NC. and Linda G. Smalley of Jackson, 11 grandchildren; Angela (Jody) Hobbs, Brian Smalley, Melanie Smalley, Eric Nordrum, Kyle (Alexis) Nordrum, Amy Nordrum, Olivia (Shane) Parks, Andria Smalley, Rachel (Brian) Chitty, Janie (Brian) Pilcher and Wesley (Amanda) Duncan, 9 great grandchildren; Emily, Josas, Allison, Grace, Brandon, Mattie, Damon, Carter and Orion. Zelma is also survived by a brother, Roger G. (Louisabelle) Lundy of Lucasville and a sister Sharon K. Penn of McDermott. Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Sunday April 6, 2014 at Bethany Baptist Church in Rushtown with Al Owens officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the church on Sunday from 2 to 4:00 PM. The family request that any donations be made to the Northwest Alumni Scholarship Fund (C/O Pat Moore 548 Country Club Drive McDermott, OH 45652). Arrangements are under the direction of the Roger W.
