Wilburn P. "Doc" Noel 76
Wilburn P. "Doc" Noel 76 of West Portsmouth, died Friday, March 05, 2010 at SOMC Hospice. Doc was born March 21, 1933 in Portsmouth to the late James Albert and Ethel Irene Spriggs Noel. He was a Korea Army war veteran and retired from NARCO of Cincinnati and Harvison/Walker of Portsmouth on April 1, 1996 as Brickyard worker. Doc was preceded in death by two brothers; Arnold and Charles Noel and two sisters; Margaret Hodge and Susan Smith and Clarence, Forest, Elmer, Clay and Norman Noel, Bessie Lawrence, Alma Pistole and Hazel Cartmell.
Doc is survived by his wife, Emma Rose Gray Noel, whom he married, March 31, 1954, two sons; Preston Noel Jr. of Middletown, Joey K. Noel of Broadway, NC, four daughters; Holly Grooms of Middletown, Beth Boldman of Otway, Merry Ann Burge of Lumberton, Miss, Anita Noel of West Portsmouth, one half brother; Perry Gifford of Rubyville, three sisters; Janice Loop of Portsmouth, Ruth Arledge of Columbus, and Garnet Thompson of Newark, two step sisters; Charlotte Clay and Lumae Kelley both of Columbus, 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11AM Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Apostolic Brethren Church in West Portsmouth with Bro. Clarence Woodbridge officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park, with graveside military rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the church from 4 to 8pm on Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. The family would like to also thank SOMC Hospice for all there loving care.
