Willard "Gale" Ratliff, 87

Willard Gale Ratliff, 87 of West Portsmouth, died Monday January 17, 2011 at his home. He was born September 6, 1923 in Paintsville, Ky to the late Easu and Zoie Mente Rice Ratliff. He was a Laborer and a member of Laborers Local # 83. He was an Army Corporal and WWII veteran and a member of Bible Chapel Church. Along with his parents Gale was preceded in death by his wife Louella Hoover Ratliff who he married on June 6, 1947 4 brothers; Guy, Conn, Tommy and Willie Martin Ratliff and 2 sisters; Gracie Rhea and Goldie Fife.

Gale is survived by 3 children; Carolyn Lou Waughtel and Brandy "Rita" (Jody) Alston all of West Portsmouth and Harold Edward (Rita) Ratliff of Kingsport, TN, 4 grandchildren; James Leonard Arney, Michael Arney, Cody Alston and Kyle Edward Ratliff, 2 great grandchildren; Heather Arney and Tabitha Arney.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday January 21, 2011 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Mike Davis officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park with graveside military rites by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion.
