William B. Diller, 80

William B. Diller 80, of West Portsmouth died Wednesday December 3, 2008 at his home. He was born July 10, 1928 in Portsmouth to the late Clyde Ernest and Lula Marie Shope Diller. Bill was retired from Ohio Power after 30 years of service. He was a former Member and President of Washington Local School Board, Washington Township Trustee, Past Chief and founding member of Washington Township Volunteer Fire Dept. and was a member of the Santa's Express. Bill was also a member of the Scioto County Fair Board, The Portsmouth Elks BPOE 154, the Elks Tuesday Night Golf League and the Elks Bowling League. He was also a former Boy Scout leader and a Babe Ruth League baseball coach. Along with his parents Bill was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Rutha Herdman and Kathleen Jarrell and a daughter–in-law Karen Lewis Diller.

Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years Wanda J. Evans Diller, whom he married on November 27, 1948, 2 sons; William E. Diller of Athens and Wayne E."Ernie" and Barbara L. Diller of West Portsmouth, 3 grandchildren; Patrick Burton Diller, Amanda Erin (Christopher) Dice and Kyle Lewis Diller.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday December 6, 2008 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Pastor Pete Shaffer officiating. Burial will be at Scioto Burial Park with Fireman's Rites by the Washington Township Volunteer Dept..n Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8:00 PM on Friday and from 11 to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday. The family requests donations be made to Santa's Express c/o Washington Township Fire Dept. Float Division and Nauvoo United Methodist Church in Bill's name.
