William E. "Bill" Conley, 82
William E. "Bill" Conley, 82 of West Portsmouth, died Monday August 11, 2008 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born October 6, 1925 in Portsmouth to the late Grover C and Bertha Pointer Conley. He was a WWII Navy Veteran where he was a member of the CB's Unit 594, served in the South Pacific on The USS White Plains, was Past Commander of VFW 3714, a member of James Dickey Post 23 American Legion, Past Noble Grand of the Odd Fellows and was a member of Old Town United Methodist Church for 53 years. Bill retired from Goodyear Atomic Corporation. Along with his parents Bill was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Grover Jr., Glenn, Kelly and Charles Conley and a sister Kathleen Howell.
Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years Pauline Noel Conley who he married on August 9, 1947, 2 sons; William T. "Tim" (Cricri) Conley of West Portsmouth and Michael (Kimberly) Conley of Columbus, 2 daughters; Beverly (Steve) Mignerey and Cathy (Doug) Coleman both of West Portsmouth, a sister Helen Ciraso of McDermott, 6 grandchildren; William T. (Felicia) Conley Jr., Christy (Kenny) Irwin, Heather (Brian) Howard, Sheena Mignerey, Tracy (Scott) Bauer and Scott Biden, 9 great grandchildren; Nathan and Zachary Conley, McKenzie, Steven and Mitchell Irwin, Bobby Jo and Charley Jo Howard, and Brooke and Brennan Bauer. Bill is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, August 15, 2008 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral home in West Portsmouth with Matthew Brookes officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park with military rites by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8:00 PM on Thursday and from 11 till the funeral hour on Friday.
