William "Bill" Lewis Johnson 71

William "Bill" Lewis Johnson 71 of West Portsmouth, joined the Lord in heaven on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the SOMC Hospice Center. Hew was born on August 16, 1938 in Kentucky to the late Dewy and Lavina Johnson. Bill was preceded in death by two brothers; Ben and Jesse Johnson; brother-in-law; Walter Crabtree, nephew; William Crabtree and father-in-law; Walter "Pike" Kemper.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and his picture was published in the Bowhunter Oct-Nov 1980 Special Edition. He was the proud owner of his "Babies", Jill and Nubby. Bill was a member of Sugar Grove First Church of God. After 35 plus proud years of service at Osco Industries, Bill retired to enjoy the life he worked so hard for.

Bill is survived by his wife, Vicky "Rusty" Kemper Johnson, whom he married in Kentucky on January 9, 1987; four daughters; Cathy (Dan) Conley of Lucasville, Karen Kepp of Rosemount, Deanna (Brett) Roberts of South Webster and Kelly (Barry) Frost of Portsmouth, a granddaughter; Cortney Frye ,whom he raised, 9 grandchildren; Candace Conley, Chris Conley, Matthew (Aleis) Conley, William "BJ" Conley, Cassondra Conley, Erica Benner, Eli Roberts, Christopher (Eden) Frye and Whitney Frost; 6 great grandchildren; Haley Conley, Courtney Conley, Asher Conley, Chloe Benner, Noah Benner and Alessa Frye; five brothers; Robert Johnson, Jack (Teresa) Johnson, Junior (Darlene) Johnson, Mike (Sam) Johnson and Johnny (Brenda) Johnson, 3 sisters; Ida (Harry) Ketter, Alma Crabtree and Sue (Teddy) Royster, brother-in-law; Butch Kemper, many nieces and nephews, special caregiver; Tyler Jones and a very special life long friend; Tom Partlow.

Funeral services will be 1pm Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Pastor Jim Brandenburg and Mike Skaggs officiating and interment in Rushtown Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8PM on Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SOMC Hospice Center in Bill's name.
